Preventative Treatments

General Dentistry with our skilled Dentists

Whether it’s visiting Sunrise Dental for a routine examination or treatment to enhance your smile, we are dedicated with providing you with the best care.

In addition to preventative dental visits (cleanings), we offer some other preventative treatments to help patients avoid more serious dental diseases:

Dental Sealants

Some teeth can have fine grooves or pits that are impossible to clean thoroughly with a toothbrush, rendering the tooth susceptible to a cavity (especially young children). Dental sealants are used to fill in these grooves or pits, preventing plaque from becoming entrapped, thus reducing your chances of getting a cavity.

Dental X-rays

We use the latest x-ray technology in the form of digital radiography, which allows us to see very small cavities, which we can then treat preventatively with fluoride toothpaste before they get too large. Digital x-rays also use significantly less radiation than convention film x-rays. The result of these digital x-rays is a highly detailed image that can easily be enhanced to better diagnose dental concerns and determine the very best treatment. We are also one of the only general dental offices to offer a cone-beam 3D scanner to better visualize the jaw joints for TMJ Therapy, bone levels for implant procedures, and roots of a tooth for root canal therapy.

Mouthguards/Nightguards/Therapeutic Bite Splints

Depending on your specific needs, we custom-design mouth guards, night guards, and therapeutic bite splints to protect your teeth and help treat any TMJ problems. Mouth guards are recommended to protect the teeth and jaw during physical activity and contact sports. Night guards are made for patients who clench or grind their teeth at night. Therapeutic bite splints are made for patients who have joint/muscular pain. A thorough evaluation will be performed by the dentist to determine which type of treatment will best suit the patient’s needs.

Gum Treatments

The foundation of a stable set of teeth lies within the health of the gum and bone surrounding them. When the gum and bone are unhealthy, teeth are not as stable as they could be. You may notice persistent bad breath, gums that bleed easily, loose teeth, and even changes in the position or bite of teeth.

Periodontal disease is an example of chronic gum condition that needs to be monitored and managed effectively to help maintain stable oral health and prevent premature tooth loss. Bespoke gum treatments helps make this possible.Ā
