Special Interest Temporomandibular Disorders and Occlusion
Dr Ziad is passionate about the management of Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) and facial pain by adopting numerous conservative non-surgical evidence-based treatments including a wide range of splint therapy, pharmacological, occlusal alteration, and physiotherapeutic treatments mainly aiming at the reduction of pain and improving oral function.
Dr Al-Ani was awarded his MSc in Prosthodontics from Manchester University in 1999. In 2004 he was awarded his doctorate from the same University; the title of his thesis was “Studies in Temporomandibular Disorders and Occlusion”. In 2006, he obtained MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. In recognition of his teaching activities, he was awarded the status of Fellow of Higher Education Academy in 2010. He is highly skilled and highly experienced in the management and treatment of such challenges.
He has published numerous articles about Occlusion and TMD in peer-reviewed scientific papers, and he is the author of the book “Temporomandibular Disorders: A Problem-Based Approach” and the book “Practical Procedures in Dental Occlusion”.
